Chinese smartphone company iQOO recently launched their latest range of smartphones, namely the iQOO 8 and iQOO 8 Pro. The two new smartphones are launched as successors to the previous iQOO 7 series launched by the company. Both the smartphones feature a bezel-less display with a punch-hole housing for the front camera housing.
For the color variants, iQOO partnered with BMW M Motorsport, which is BMW’s high-performance car manufacturing department. The iQOO 8 comes in two color finishes, the Legendary Edition with BMW M Motorsport color option and a Black Color variant, which sports a very stylish carbon fiber look. In contrast, the iQOO 8 Pro sports the Legendary Edition and BMW M Track Version color finish. The iQOO 8 and the iQOO 8 Pro will go on sale from August 24th and August 26th onwards, respectively; however, the smartphones are exclusive to China. Unfortunately, there are no updates regarding its launch for the international markets, including India.
iQOO 8 Price & Specifications:
iQOO 8 comes with a 6.56-inch FHD+ AMOLED display that supports an impressive refresh rate of 120Hz. Making it a super viable option for mobile gaming. Additionally, the screen of the iQOO 8 comes with a 10-bit display that is capable of showcasing up to a billion color shades and more. One of the most noticeable features of the iQOO 8 is the powerhouse of a processor that it uses, namely the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888. For security, the smartphone also features an in-display fingerprint scanner and facial recognition support.
The iQOO 8 runs on the Origin OS 1.0 based on Android 11 and features two storage options. The price of the smartphone is set accordingly to the two storage options that it is available in, which are 8GB RAM plus 128GB storage priced at CNY 3,799 (Rs. 43,600) and the whopping 12GB RAM plus 256GB storage priced at CNY 4,199 (Rs. 48,200). The smartphone’s battery is decently sized at 4,350mAh; however, it supports an outstanding 120W fast charging speed.
The camera setup of the smartphone includes a triple rear camera setup that houses a 48MP primary Sony IMX598 primary sensor that can go up to aperture levels of f/1.79, providing immense support for focus-based photography. Additionally, the iQOO 8 comes with a 113MP ultra-wide sensor and a 13MP camera specifically designed for portrait photography. The front camera is a 16MP selfie camera housed in the center-aligned punch-hole of the smartphone’s display.
Under connectivity options, the smartphone carries support for 5G, Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, Bluetooth v5.2, and a USB Type-C port. The smartphone’s sensors include an ambient light sensor, proximity sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, and an e-compass.
iQOO 8 Pro Price & Specifications:
The iQOO 8 Pro is priced way higher than the iQOO 8 and does pack a lot more within itself. It comes with a 6.78-inch 2K AMOLED Display, which houses an impressive refresh rate of 120Hz. Making the iQOO 8 Pro a very suitable smartphone for gaming. The 2K resolution accompanied by the 10-bit display and HDR support ultimately enhances the visual experience of the iQOO 8 Pro. The iQOO 8 Pro runs on the exact Origin OS 1.0 and packs the super-fast Qualcomm Snapdragon 888+ SoC chipset. The Adreno 660 GPU backs the graphics department of the smartphone. Packing the smartphone with a lot of capability to top benchmarks.
The iQOO 8 Pro comes in three storage options, the 8GB RAM plus 256GB storage priced at CNY 4,999 (Rs. 57,300), the 12GB RAM plus 256GB storage model priced at CNY 5,499 (Rs. 63,100) and the 12GB RAM plus 512GB storage model priced at CNY 5,999 (Rs. 68,800). The smartphone’s battery is sized at 4500mAh and supports 120W fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging. Under security, the iQOO 8 Pro comes with an improved 3D wide-area in-display fingerprint sensor.
The iQOO 8 Pro comes with a triple camera setup that includes a 50MP Sony IMX766V primary sensor, which supports low apertures up to f/1.75, perfect for focus-based photography. Other lenses include a 48MP ultra-wide sensor and a 16MP portrait camera. The front camera of the smartphone includes a 16MP selfie camera. The Pro model supports the same connectivity options as the iQOO 8 and weighs slightly heavier than the vanilla model.
The iQOO 8 and the iQOO 8 Pro fit somewhere in the top-range smartphone category according to their price and offer exciting color variants which feature the famous car brand BMW M Motorsport. Making it a must-pick for car enthusiasts is quite reminiscent of the McLaren Edition of the OnePlus models. Even the specifications of the smartphone are pretty superior and are capable of delivering top-quality performance.
