WhatsApp is currently working on integrating message reactions feature on its platform. The feature can potentially let people react to messages with a specific emoji. The feature is already in use on other social media platforms like Instagram & Twitter, and people can long-press a message that they want to react to and select an emoji as a reaction. And the Facebook-owned messaging company is also heading in the same direction as Instagram and Twitter.
A report by WABetaInfo shows that the message reactions feature will soon be arriving for WhatsApp beta testers. According to them, WhatsApp is still testing the feature and preparing it for the users. And soon, even WhatsApp users will be able to add emoji expressions as reactions to different messages.
With this feature, WhatsApp is finally catching up to its competition, which accommodates this feature on their platforms. Some of WhatsApp’s competitors currently have this feature include Twitter, Signal, Slack, and Facebook Messenger. Currently, there is no information on how the feature will visually look on the platform. Hopefully, there might be some official news from WhatsApp regarding this feature shortly.
This feature is a fantastic addition for the users, as they can be more creative with their responses to specific messages. It adds a lot more fun to the platform, which is one of the primary reasons multiple messaging apps are equipping this feature, including WhatsApp. It gives the users a more customized way of responding to messages, and at the same time, also entertaining the general audience reading & reacting to the message. With its competitors currently using this feature, WhatsApp is trying to walk the same steps, creating a similar form of experience but, of course, implementing it in a better manner than their competitors.
Currently, there is no information on when this particular feature will be added to the platform. However, it is going to come soon, even for the desktop version of WhatsApp. Additionally, people with the outdated version of WhatsApp will get a message stating that they have received a reaction to their message. Still, the current version of their WhatsApp is not capable of showing it. So stay tuned, and keep your WhatsApp Beta updated to be one of the lucky ones to test out this feature first.
