Vivo launches Y72 5G in India, starting from Rs. 20,990

After the smartphone debuted in Thailand in March 2021, Vivo released the tweaked version of the smartphone “Y72 5G” in India on Thursday. It is already available on Amazon, Flipkart, PayTm and the Vivo India E store. Special features on this phone include the Esports mode and the Ultra gaming mode. Going by the design and the first looks of the phone, some people are calling it the remake of Vivo Y52 T1 version which was released abroad back in May of this year. Offers of the launch include Rs 1,500 cashback through HDFC, ICICI and Kotak Mahindra bank and no-cost EMI options for upto 12 months.

In terms of the specifications of the Vivo Y72 5G will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC while the version launched in Thailand offers MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC. It contains 128GB internal storage, which will be paired with 8GB of RAM. It will run on Android 11 with Funtouch OS 11.1 and measures 164.15×75.35×8.40mm and weighs 185.5 grams. Featuring a 6.58 inch FHD+ display, it will contain a resolution of 1080×2408 pixels with 90Hz refresh rate.

It is backed by a 5000mAh battery and supports 18W fast charging. A side mounted fingerprint sensor, magnetometer, ambient light sensor, proximity sensor and accelerometer are also included in the smartphone. 4G LTE, 5G, GPS, WiFi and Bluetooth are some of the connectivity features that the smartphone will pack.

For the camera, it will have a 48MP primary shooter with f/1.79 lens and a 2MP secondary shooter with f/2.4 aperture. The front camera will be a 8MP selfie snapper with f/1.8 lens, and can also be used for video chats.

Prism magic and Slate grey are the colours in which the smartphone is available at the moment and the device also packs a multi-turbo 5.0 feature, which optimises system processes. The water drop style notch, dual camera setup and a slight chin below makes it a stylish device to own at a reasonable mid-range price. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 20,990 and is the only version of the smartphone launched by the company. This smartphone was launched in the mid-range category and the smartphone with which this device will compete is the Realme 8 Pro which is also priced similarly at Rs. 17,999.
