Finally, the Facebook-owned company, WhatsApp, has stated that they will be releasing HD photo uploads and multi-device support on iOS WhatsApp Beta soon. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg confirmed that multi-device support would be available for iOS devices soon.
This feature was already available for WhatsApp Beta users on Android, whereas iOS users did not have the privilege to use the feature. However, now they will be able, this feature allows people to use WhatsApp on four different devices without the need for the primary device.
According to a report by WABetaInfo, there has been a new update that revealed that iOS users would soon get to experience the Multi-Device support feature too. This particular feature is still in beta for Android and will soon be coming to iOS’ Beta version of WhatsApp.
The user can navigate to WhatsApp settings to access this feature, where they could see a tab called Linked Devices, which previously was WhatsApp Web. Clicking on the Linked Devices tab will reveal a row called multi-device which the user can link four devices. This particular feature might not be available for all iOS Beta users, as WhatsApp is partially rolling the feature out for everyone. So do not worry if you cannot find it, as your version might get it soon.
Apart from that, WhatsApp is also planning on introducing high-resolution image sharing on iOS’ WhatsApp Beta. Android users have had the option to use this feature for quite some time to select the image quality before uploading it.
The high-resolution image upload feature consists of three modes: Data Saver, Best Quality & Auto. The Data saver mode compresses the image according to the quality of internet connectivity that the user is getting and will be very helpful for users with low bandwidth. However, the receiver will be getting an image of lower quality. The Auto mode uses the best compression algorithm depending on the image size. Lastly, the Best Quality option will compress the image by 80% and send the image at its best quality, avoiding reduction of quality due to compression. However, this mode can be heavy on the users’ internet and might also increase the upload times of images, as they will be larger.
Users can access this feature by going to WhatsApp Settings > Storage and Data > Media Upload Quality. Again, like the multi-device support feature, this feature is also being rolled out partially, so not all iOS users will be able to see it. However, it will be coming soon to all devices, so keep your eyes peeled for the features.
Concludingly, WhatsApp is doing an excellent job of rolling out new features that improve user experience. And finally, they have started introducing them to iOS devices too. Both these updates might be available on your Beta version of WhatsApp. If not, then keep an eye out as you could get it soon.
